Hi everybody, I am Isabel and I am participating in this project to learn more about the problem that the lake Atitlan and many other water bodies are experimenting. The first week of lectures and theoretical training was very interesting since there where different points of view and some examples of how other lakes with similar problems have been managed.
Yesterday we all started the fieldwork and the first day was a success. I was in the wetland group so we went out into the lake to take some samples and to visit two interesting projects that have been made using macrophytes in two different forms. In the first project these plants where used for the absorption of the nutrients that where carried in a water fluent polluted by the local washing women. The second project we visited is a ecological farm that uses the water nymph as the basic source to run the farm. Later at night we went to the lake to take samples and we got the 300 m sample. We all were pretty excited about it. So I am ready for another great day at the lake!
